Catalog: CNVFP-SELENOT-18296
Classification: Copy Number Variation
Description: Our Gene-specific Copy Number Variation Probes usually target the flanks of the target gene (SELENOT). The product usually consists of a combination of reagents, which consists of a probe with a selected dye color and a hybridization reagent. We provide CNV FISH Probes with a variety of dye color combinations to meet various challenges. Probe products not only provide some classic color combinations but also provide customized probe services.
Application: SELENOT Gene-specific copy number variation probes are mainly used to detect the copy number variation related to SELENOT genes. This product achieves the purpose of detection by hybridizing with the SELENOT gene. Due to this design method, our probe products can detect the amplification and deletion of target genes on chromosomes through FISH.

Gene Details

Gene Name Selenoprotein T
Gene Summary [Provided by RefSeq] This gene encodes a selenoprotein, containing a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at the active site. Sec is encoded by the UGA codon that normally signals translation termination. The 3' UTRs of selenoprotein mRNAs contain a conserved stem-loop structure, the Sec insertion sequence (SECIS) element, that is necessary for the recognition of UGA as a Sec codon rather than as a stop signal. This protein is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum. It belongs to the SelWTH family that possesses a thioredoxin-like fold and a conserved CxxU (C is cysteine, U is Sec) motif found in several redox active proteins. Studies in mice indicate a crucial role for this gene in the protection of dopaminergic neurons against oxidative stress in Parkinson's disease, and in the control of glucose homeostasis in pancreatic beta-cells. Pseudogenes of this locus have been identified on chromosomes 9 and 5. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2017]
