Gene Details

Gene Name 1 Sortilin 1
Gene Summary 1 This gene encodes a member of the VPS10-related sortilin family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed by furin to generate the mature receptor. This receptor plays a role in the trafficking of different proteins to either the cell surface, or subcellular compartments such as lysosomes and endosomes. Expression levels of this gene may influence the risk of myocardial infarction in human patients. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]
Chromosome 1 Chromosome 1
Locus 1 1p21.3-p13.1
Coordinates 1 This gene maps to 109852187-109940563 in GRCh37 coordinates.
Gene Name 2 TATA-box Binding Protein Associated Factor 13
Gene Summary 2 Initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II requires the activities of more than 70 polypeptides. The protein that coordinates these activities is transcription factor IID (TFIID), which binds to the core promoter to position the polymerase properly, serves as the scaffold for assembly of the remainder of the transcription complex, and acts as a channel for regulatory signals. TFIID is composed of the TATA-binding protein (TBP) and a group of evolutionarily conserved proteins known as TBP-associated factors or TAFs. TAFs may participate in basal transcription, serve as coactivators, function in promoter recognition or modify general transcription factors (GTFs) to facilitate complex assembly and transcription initiation. This gene encodes a small subunit associated with a subset of TFIID complexes. This subunit interacts with TBP and with two other small subunits of TFIID, TAF10 and TAF11. There is a pseudogene located on chromosome 6. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Chromosome 2 Chromosome1
Locus 2 1p13.3
Coordinates 2 This gene maps to 109606997-109618624 in GRCh37 coordinates.
