Gene Details
Gene Name 1 |
Sp1 Transcription Factor |
Gene Summary 1 |
The protein encoded by this gene is a zinc finger transcription factor that binds to GC-rich motifs of many promoters. The encoded protein is involved in many cellular processes, including cell differentiation, cell growth, apoptosis, immune responses, response to DNA damage, and chromatin remodeling. Post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation, acetylation, glycosylation, and proteolytic processing significantly affect the activity of this protein, which can be an activator or a repressor. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014] |

Coordinates 1 |
This gene maps to 53773978-53810226 in GRCh37 coordinates. |
Gene Name 2 |
Neuropeptide FF-amide Peptide Precursor |
Gene Summary 2 |
This gene encodes a member of the FMRFamide related peptide (FARP) family of neuropeptides. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate multiple amidated peptides. These peptides may play a role in the regulation of heart rate and blood pressure and the modulation of morphine-induced antinociception. Patients with hypertension exhibit decreased expression of the encoded protein. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes an isoform that is proteolytically processed. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016] |
