Gene Details
Gene Name 1 |
Nuclear Mitotic Apparatus Protein 1 |
Gene Summary 1 |
This gene encodes a large protein that forms a structural component of the nuclear matrix. The encoded protein interacts with microtubules and plays a role in the formation and organization of the mitotic spindle during cell division. Chromosomal translocation of this gene with the RARA (retinoic acid receptor, alpha) gene on chromosome 17 have been detected in patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2013] |
Chromosome 1 |
Chromosome 11 |
Locus 1 |
11q13.4 |
Coordinates 1 |
This gene maps to 71713910-71791573 in GRCh37 coordinates. |
Gene Name 2 |
Apoptosis Antagonizing Transcription Factor |
Gene Summary 2 |
The protein encoded by this gene was identified on the basis of its interaction with MAP3K12/DLK, a protein kinase known to be involved in the induction of cell apoptosis. This gene product contains a leucine zipper, which is a characteristic motif of transcription factors, and was shown to exhibit strong transactivation activity when fused to Gal4 DNA binding domain. Overexpression of this gene interfered with MAP3K12 induced apoptosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
