Gene Details
Gene Name 1 |
MDM2 Proto-oncogene |
Gene Summary 1 |
This gene encodes a nuclear-localized E3 ubiquitin ligase. The encoded protein can promote tumor formation by targeting tumor suppressor proteins, such as p53, for proteasomal degradation. This gene is itself transcriptionally-regulated by p53. Overexpression or amplification of this locus is detected in a variety of different cancers. There is a pseudogene for this gene on chromosome 2. Alternative splicing results in a multitude of transcript variants, many of which may be expressed only in tumor cells. Coordinates 1 |
This gene maps to 69201970-69239212 in GRCh37 coordinates. |
Gene Name 2 |
SLAM Family Member 9 |
Gene Summary 2 |
This gene encodes a member of the signaling lymphocytic activation molecule family. The encoded protein is a cell surface molecule that consists of two extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain and a short cytoplasmic tail that lacks the signal transduction motifs found in other family members. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2009] |
